Bei den Konzerten der Dropkick Murphys sorgt eine wilde Mischung unterschiedlichster Instrumente – von Bodhrán, Gitarre und Schlagzeug über Mandoline bis zum Akkordeon – für Party und gute Stimmung. Die US-Amerikaner sind Botschafter des Celtic Punk Rock, eines Musikstils, der, wie der Name schon sagt, Einflüsse aus Hardcore und irischem Folk miteinander verbindet und dabei eine selten unterhaltsame Mischung schafft.

Seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre unternehmen die Dropkick Murphys regelmäßig musikalische Abstecher über den Großen Teich in Richtung Grüne Insel. Sie sind die geistigen Ziehkinder von The Pogues und Still Little Fingers, und ihre Musik ist ebenso kernig wie gesellig, festlich und anspruchsvoll zugleich – Irland eben.

Die Dropkick Murphys in der aktuellen Besetzung mit Al Barr, James Lynch, Ken Casey, Matt Kelly, Tim Brennan und Jeff DaRosa werden das Hellfest Open Air Festival erneut ordentlich auf den Kopf stellen. At the Dropkick Murphys' concerts, a wild mix of different instruments - from bodhrán, guitar and drums to mandolin and accordion - ensures a party and a good atmosphere.
