Laut Schallplattenauszeichnungen hat der Rapper weltweit insgesamt über 30,3 Millionen Tonträger verkauft, davon mehr als 25,5 Millionen allein in den Vereinigten Staaten. Die erfolgreichsten Tonträger von The Notorious B.I.G. sind sein Debütalbum Ready to Die, das sich in den Vereinigten Staaten über sechs Millionen Mal verkaufte, sowie das Doppelalbum Life After Death, das in den USA für mehr als 5,5 Millionen verkaufte Exemplare mit elffach Platin ausgezeichnet wurde. Alle Tonträger, die nach dem Tod des Rappers 1997, ohne seine aktive Beteiligung erschienen, wurden postum veröffentlicht.
